During the recent Minecraft Live event, Mojang unveiled The Sift, marking the first new dimension added to the game in nearly 15 years. This addition joins the Overworld, The Nether, and The End as the fourth dimension in the series.

A release for the Bedrock and Java editions of the main game is scheduled for next year, featuring initial areas named Meadow and Carapace.

Mojang also detailed an upcoming icy-themed update for the base game. This content drop introduces ice caves, a new ice biome, calcite blocks, ice crystals that emit soft light, and icicles that grow naturally from ceilings. Additionally, it was confirmed that Minecraft will launch on the Nintendo Switch 2 on October 27.
