A technology company in Arizona recently experienced a break-in where thieves targeted a collection of Mac mini boxes. According to reports from FOX 10 Phoenix, the incident occurred at 2 a.m. when an intruder shattered a window to gain access to the office space.
The perpetrator displayed poor situational awareness during the theft. After forcing their way through a window blind, the individual began removing Mac mini packaging from the premises. The thief failed to notice that the boxes were empty, leaving the actual hardware untouched on a separate desk nearby.
Employees discovered the scene the following morning, finding the office largely undisturbed aside from the broken window. The company owner has since offered a 1500 dollar reward for information leading to the identification and capture of the suspect.
While the financial impact was limited to the damaged window, the event serves as a reminder to secure valuable equipment out of public view. Storing items where they cannot be easily spotted by outsiders helps prevent unnecessary risks and potential property damage.
