Kotaro Uchikoshi recently announced the formation of his new studio, Crash Keys, which he founded in March 2025. Alongside this reveal, he disclosed that a project the team had been developing for a year and a half was abruptly canceled. The developer had originally intended to unveil both the studio and the game in 2027.

The official Crash Keys website contains cryptic elements that have fueled speculation regarding a potential connection to the Zero Escape series. The studio name itself references a company from the franchise, and the site includes a specific note referencing a location from Virtue’s Last Reward. Additionally, the page features a message mentioning Rhizome-9, the setting of that same title.

The website's Members section lists staff with unusual titles, such as Kotaro Uchikoshi as CEO and Deadass Underrated Director, alongside Akira Mine and Muri Sasaki. The site also includes mysterious, encoded-looking entries and invites visitors to submit work requests or investment proposals via a contact form.

Uchikoshi previously worked on The Hundred Line: Last Defense Academy and No Sleep for Kaname Date, both released in 2025. While the nature of the canceled project remains unconfirmed, the site's references suggest a possible link to the Zero Escape series, which last saw a new entry with 2016's Zero Time Dilemma.
