The rock-and-roll management RPG Rockbeasts has announced a January 2027 release date. Players can currently access a demo on Steam featuring the first two episodes, with a third episode arriving during the Steam Next Fest starting on the 19th.
Set in a fictional 1990s America populated by anthropomorphic animals, the game tasks players with managing an unknown band. Success requires balancing limited budgets for rehearsal spaces, equipment maintenance, and food, while navigating complex negotiations with industry executives and venue owners. Players must choose between artistic integrity and commercial profit, with these decisions directly impacting the narrative.
Concerts are executed through rhythm-based gameplay. Before performing, players must curate setlists and arrange sound equipment to highlight the band's strengths. Performance outcomes dictate the group's reputation, fan base, and financial stability, with failures leading to decreased morale and prestige.
The game features a hand-drawn art style inspired by adult animation to capture the 90s grunge and MTV aesthetic. It includes 17 original alternative rock tracks. The title will launch on PC, Nintendo Switch, Nintendo Switch 2, PS5, and Xbox Series X/S.
