Actor Olivier Richters, currently cast as Zangief in the upcoming Street Fighter film, has publicly expressed his desire to portray the character Tyr in Prime Video’s live-action God of War series.
Richters previously auditioned for the role of Kratos, reaching the final stages of the casting process before the part was awarded to Dave Bautista. The actor noted that his physical stature, standing over seven feet tall and weighing more than 350 pounds, may have influenced casting decisions for the lead role.
Regarding his interest in Tyr, Richters believes the character is a better fit for his physical build. He has instructed his agent to communicate his availability for the role, though it remains uncertain if the character will appear in the show's first or second season.
While his future involvement with the God of War production is currently unconfirmed, Richters is actively training in Street Fighter 6 to master the Zangief character for his film role and potential tournament play.
