Legacy Games, a platform established in 1998 that transitioned to digital sales in autumn 2020, has announced its permanent closure. Despite previously marketing its PC game bundles with the slogan "yours forever," the company confirmed that users will lose the ability to re-download their purchased titles once the platform shuts down.
The shutdown will occur in phases. Monthly game offers will cease on December 1, 2026, and game download codes will expire on December 31, 2026. All remaining store services and download capabilities are scheduled to terminate on February 28, 2027.
Unlike other platforms that have facilitated game migration during closures, Legacy Games will not offer such options. The company advises customers to download and install their libraries onto their own hardware before the February 28, 2027 deadline to maintain access. Users have criticized the company for the contradiction between its "yours forever" branding and the impending loss of service, while also noting the practical difficulties of storing large digital libraries.
