SmileBoom has released the Ver.2.7 update for its PC RPG creation tool, RPG Developer Bakin. This significant update officially introduces support for Steam Deck, allowing creators to export games compatible with the handheld device.

The update introduces DirectX 12 (beta) as a graphics API option. This implementation enables parallel shader compilation to improve game startup speeds and adds support for GPU particles via the Effekseer effect tool. Users can revert to the OpenGL version if they encounter issues with the beta.

Regarding Steam Deck compatibility, the developer notes that games utilizing external DLLs via custom plugins may not function correctly. Furthermore, Valve independently determines the official compatibility status for each title, meaning not all user-created projects are guaranteed to receive official certification.

Additional enhancements include expanded color grading for 3D environments, support for WebM video playback with alpha channels, and new layout tool panels for UI design. To celebrate the fourth anniversary of the tool's early access, a Steam sale is currently active, offering 30% off the software and various DLC bundles.
