Players of Sonic Racing CrossWorlds are currently disputing SEGA's decision to introduce a new 29,99 euro season pass for the game's second year of content. This controversy stems from a June 8, 2025, promotional message for the Digital Deluxe Edition, which explicitly stated that the purchase would include all future paid downloadable content.
The second year of content, scheduled to run until the end of 2027, features six new paid packs including collaborations with Godzilla, Evangelion, Hello Kitty, SEGA classics, Final Fantasy VII, and Persona. While SEGA has also announced free additions such as Bayonetta and McLaren, the requirement to pay for the new season pass has frustrated owners of the premium edition who expected these items to be covered by their initial purchase.
Although it is possible SEGA intended the original promise to apply only to first-year content, the company has not yet clarified its position or offered a solution to affected players. The promotional post remained accessible during the emergence of this dispute, leaving many to argue that the company's current plans contradict their earlier marketing claims.
Sonic Racing CrossWorlds is a kart racing title available on PlayStation 4, PlayStation 5, Xbox One, Xbox Series, Nintendo Switch, Switch 2, and PC. The game distinguishes itself with mechanics that allow players to transition between dimensions during races.
