NVIDIA is reportedly shifting its GB202 silicon allocation away from the GeForce RTX 5090 and its China-specific variants. According to BenchLife, board partners are no longer receiving these chips for consumer card production, as NVIDIA redirects supply toward more profitable professional-grade hardware like the RTX PRO 6000 and RTX PRO 5500.
The company does not currently classify this shift as an end-of-life move for the RTX 5090. Existing inventory remains in circulation, though availability is constrained; for instance, the card recently sold out at Walmart at a price point of $4,299.
Looking ahead, BenchLife reports that NVIDIA intends to release an RTX 5080 model equipped with 24 GB of GDDR7 memory during the first quarter of 2027. This version would serve as a replacement for the existing 16 GB iteration.
Despite these reported plans, board partners have not yet received development materials for the 24 GB card. While they have received verbal confirmation of the upcoming release, the lack of technical documentation remains notable, and it is currently unclear if this hardware is identical to the previously rumored RTX 5080 SUPER.
