Mojang Studios has announced the Sift, marking the first new dimension for Minecraft in over 14 years. Initially revealed at Gamescom and detailed during Minecraft LIVE, the Sift will debut in Minecraft Dungeons II on September 29, before officially arriving in standard Minecraft editions in 2027.
Minecraft Dungeons II introduces players to strange events disturbing the Overworld order, alongside new enemy types and wandering souls that point directly to the Sift. The new dimension features a distinct colorful aesthetic, unique mobs, new dangerous blocks, and challenging environments, including biomes such as Meadows and Carapace, while other zones remain secret for now.
Mojang has not yet revealed full details on how players will access the Sift within Minecraft or how its version will differ from Minecraft Dungeons II. However, playing the upcoming dungeon crawler will offer a preliminary look at its mobs, blocks, and biomes.
Minecraft Dungeons II is scheduled to release on September 29 for Xbox Series X|S, Xbox on PC, Steam, PlayStation 5, Nintendo Switch, and Nintendo Switch 2. It will also be included in the Game Pass and supports Xbox Play Anywhere for console and PC.
