Composer Mick Gordon recently expressed a conditional interest in returning to the Doom franchise. During an interview at PAX Australia, he indicated that he would consider contributing to future titles if specific circumstances were met, though he clarified that no formal agreement or project with id Software currently exists.
Gordon noted that he possesses creative concepts for the series that he hopes to explore eventually. This potential collaboration remains speculative, especially given his past public conflict with the development team. In 2022, Gordon alleged that id Software withheld payment for portions of his work and characterized executive producer Marty Stratton as abusive, though the current status of this dispute remains unclear.
While his involvement in future game development is unconfirmed, Gordon continues to engage with the franchise's music through other avenues. He is scheduled to headline the RADAR festival in the UK in 2027, where he will perform tracks from Doom and Doom Eternal alongside a live band.
Beyond his work with the series, Gordon is currently managing other professional commitments. His upcoming projects include composing the soundtrack for Defect and creating the theme music for the final boss encounter in Warhammer 40,000: Boltgun 2, which is slated for release on October 14.
