Actor Chandler Riggs has officially announced a fan-made film adaptation based on the Resident Evil franchise. In an interview with IGN, Riggs described the project as a race against time to surpass the recent Resident Evil work by Zach Cregger, which has already garnered positive feedback from critics.
The film adapts the narrative of Resident Evil 7, specifically focusing on the Baker family storyline. A 35-second trailer showcases the protagonist, Ethan Winters, presented from a third-person perspective. Notably, this adaptation reveals the character's face, a detail that remained hidden throughout the original game.
Visual elements from the trailer depict a dark, atmospheric setting where Riggs lights a match. The scene transitions to the protagonist encountering a passing police officer, desperately pleading for assistance to escape the location.
Fans interested in viewing the project can access the film when it premieres on YouTube on October 14. This release follows the broader trend of high fan enthusiasm for the franchise, which includes upcoming titles like the 2027 Veronica entry.
