Bandai Namco Entertainment has announced that ACE COMBAT 8: WINGS OF THEVE has surpassed one million units sold worldwide. This milestone marks the fastest sales pace in the history of the flight shooting series, achieved within approximately one week of its October 2, 2026, official release.
The game features intense aerial combat and a narrative centered on an invasion war by the Republic of Sotoa. Game*Spark awarded the title a score of 9, describing it as a 2026 masterpiece that successfully tackles difficult themes. However, the review noted that the series' traditional silent protagonist format occasionally feels limited.
Following reports of crashes during the early access period, the game's Steam user rating has improved to "Very Positive," with an 81% approval rate as of October 9. Developers are currently addressing technical feedback, including potential changes to how the bundled ACE COMBAT ZERO port is launched.
The title is currently available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC via Steam. To celebrate the sales achievement, the publisher has released a commemorative wallpaper featuring the character Tasha on the official portal site and confirmed plans for ongoing game updates.
