Publisher Team17 and Swedish developer Wych Elm have officially released the survival horror game Pine Harbor. The title is now available on Steam, Epic Games Store, Xbox Series X|S, PlayStation 5, and Nintendo Switch, with support for Steam Deck.
Players assume the role of private investigator Red Walker, who arrives in a desolate American town to investigate the disappearance of Eddie Velvet. The gameplay blends survival horror elements with a Metroidvania structure, requiring players to navigate a dreamlike environment while managing limited resources and solving puzzles.
Wych Elm co-founder Linus Larsson describes the game as an artistic love letter to survival horror, Metroidvania titles, and 20th-century neo-noir detective fiction. The development team, consisting of five people, spent four years creating the project to offer a cinematic experience rarely seen in gaming.
Team17 General Manager Harley Homewood praised the developers for their work, noting the use of rotoscoped motion capture and unsettling narrative design. The team previously collaborated on the BAFTA-winning Yoku's Island Express, and Homewood stated that they have successfully innovated within a mature genre to deliver a unique experience.
