The development team behind Ace Combat 8: Wings of Theve has announced plans to release a standalone Steam application for the classic title Ace Combat Zero: The Belkan War. This decision follows player frustration regarding the original implementation of the game as a pre-order bonus.
Previously, the 3.2GB port of Ace Combat Zero was only accessible as a DLC executable within Ace Combat 8. This required users to install the massive main game files to access the smaller legacy title, which also lacked independent features like cloud saves and separate achievements.
Bandai Namco previously cited licensing restrictions and platform-specific factors for the initial integration method. After receiving feedback and issuing an apology for the lack of clear communication, the company is now conducting final quality assurance and compatibility testing for the standalone version.
This update will be exclusive to players who already possess the pre-order bonus. Due to specific limited licensing, the game will not be sold separately or made available to those who did not pre-order. Official release details will follow final verification.
