Modder Frederik Wessberg is developing a new modification for Starfield that aims to enable seamless planetary landings. This project addresses a common player criticism regarding the necessity of loading screens when transitioning between space and planetary surfaces, a feature notably absent from the base game.
The mod allows players to manually enter a planet's atmosphere and navigate in low orbit. It includes an autopilot function that permits users to leave their cockpit to walk around the ship or observe the descent. Additionally, the modification provides increased landing precision, including the ability to land on water, and introduces volumetric cloud layers based on the game's climate and weather data.
Wessberg was inspired by existing community projects like Seamless Grav Jumps and Seamless Planet Takeoff, as well as the official addition of cruise mode. While the mod is currently in development, it has not yet been released to the public.
The project is currently limited to the PC platform. There is no confirmed release date for the mod, though it is expected to be available for free download on Nexus Mods once completed.
