The roguelike Astral Ascent, which launched in November 2023, has introduced a new collaboration with the title Clair Obscur: Expedition 33. This crossover was officially announced during the Triple I Initiative digital event.
This update, released on October 8, is available for free. It adds three new bosses named Petank, Golgra, and the Mimo, alongside three new rooms inspired by locations such as Lumière, Gestral, and the Camp. Players can also summon characters including Gustave, Maelle, Lune, Sciel, Monoco, or Verso, provided they have completed the base game on its standard difficulty.
Developers at Hibernian Workshop stated that translating the world of Expedition 33 into their signature pixel art style was their primary challenge. They expressed pride in the result, noting that the collaboration serves as an homage to the game.
Astral Ascent is noted for its detailed pixel art, fast-paced combat, and combo-focused mechanics. The title currently holds a 94% positive rating from over 5,000 reviews on Steam, where it is available for purchase.
