Following its initial reveal at the April Triple-i showcase, the Risk of Rain 2: Hallowed Concepts expansion has officially launched. The release was announced during the latest autumn iteration of the presentation, making the content immediately accessible to players.
The expansion introduces a darker, macabre theme centered on the cult of N’Kuhana. Players can now engage with a new sacrifice mechanic, where they accept debuffs like reduced vision to earn powerful items such as the Hellmouth, which causes enemies to be attacked by their own allies. Additionally, time-limited N’Kuhana trials offer challenging arena combat with rewards for successful completion.
Two new survivors join the roster. The Enforcer returns from the original game, utilizing a shield to block attacks and counter with shotgun blasts, while also deploying automated turrets. Conversely, the Acolyte is an agile melee fighter who cannot heal normally. Instead, she manages a health pool where damage and healing are converted into resources, gaining attack speed as her health drops.
The Acolyte can also extract enemy souls using bolas or sacrifice foes to trigger a mysterious transformation into an avatar of N’Kuhana. The expansion is available now.
