NVIDIA has unveiled significant updates to its graphics technologies, aiming to boost gaming performance across both new and existing hardware. These improvements, which include a new performance mode for Frame Generation and advancements in DLSS 5, are designed to benefit users of RTX 4000 series cards alongside the newer RTX 5000 series.
The new Frame Generation performance mode, accessible via the NVIDIA app beta, introduces a 'Preset C' option. While NVIDIA claims this can increase speeds by up to 35% on an RTX 5060, the company acknowledges that this mode sacrifices some image quality to achieve higher frame rates, and results may vary by game and hardware.
Regarding DLSS 5, NVIDIA reports that the technology now requires fewer GPU resources, processing images twice as fast as the version introduced in September. For instance, NBA 2K27 is expected to see a 40% increase in frame rates following an update on October 16. The company emphasizes that the goal is to maintain visual quality while reducing the workload on the graphics card.
Broader availability is scheduled for upcoming months. Hogwarts Legacy will integrate DLSS 5 on November 5, while Where Winds Meet receives the technology later that month. Additionally, RTX Remix will support these new features starting October 23, and new RTX Spark laptops will launch on October 16 with full DLSS 5 compatibility.
