Ember Lab has announced that Kena: Scars of Kosmora is scheduled to be released in 2027 for PS5 and PC in both physical and digital formats. Following their 2021 debut title, Bridge of Spirits, the developer aims to deliver a game on a much larger scale, requiring extra time to polish the expanded experience.
Set as a linear, character-focused adventure similar to the first game, Scars of Kosmora offers a broader and deeper scope. Prior to the game's events, Kena trained extensively as a Spiritual Guide, a role combining warrior and spiritual healer duties to combat dangerous environmental Corruption caused by restless dead.
The narrative follows Kena as she confronts her own limits and unaddressed grief, traveling to the mysterious island of Kosmora to meet her childhood friend, Orfio, in search of answers about her past and future. The island features dungeon-like Alchemical Temples tied to four ancient elements, challenging players with trials that grant transformative rewards.
In addition to exploring living cultures across the region, Kena is aided by a new canine companion. This ancient spirit functions as a mount, assists in mounted or on-foot combat, and helps solve alchemical puzzles as Kena works to heal the scars of both her own past and the island of Kosmora.
