Eric Barone, known as ConcernedApe, has provided new insights into his upcoming title, Haunted Chocolatier. First announced in 2021, the game is currently in development alongside ongoing support for Stardew Valley.
Barone describes the new project as a town game that functions more like an action RPG. The gameplay emphasizes adventuring, acquiring equipment, and increasing character power, featuring monsters and boss encounters designed for players who enjoyed the mining aspects of Stardew Valley.
The developer is meticulously refining every detail, including UI elements like the recipe book, to ensure they are intuitive and aesthetically pleasing. Barone noted that he prefers to avoid showing early, incomplete versions of the game to prevent player disappointment if features evolve before the final release.
Haunted Chocolatier currently lacks a release date. Barone has expanded his team to delegate tasks for Stardew Valley updates, allowing him to dedicate more focus to his new project, though he maintains a hands-on approach to creative direction.
