The decision stems from the studio's participation in a boycott against Microsoft, aligned with the BDS movement. This campaign aims to pressure the corporation regarding its technological ties to the Israeli military, specifically concerning cloud and artificial intelligence services.
House House expressed disappointment regarding the exclusion, noting it conflicts with their goal of making the game accessible to all friend groups. The studio maintains that collective action is necessary to challenge powerful interests, and they do not plan to bring the game to Xbox unless the situation involving the parent company changes significantly.
Big Walk, which launched on August 4 on PS5, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC, currently holds a 91 score on Metacritic and 96% positive reviews on Steam. Other developers, such as Ice Water Games, have previously taken similar actions against the platform.
