While Grand Theft Auto VI is officially scheduled for PlayStation 5 and Xbox Series on November 19, 2026, recent financial reports suggest a significantly faster release for the PC version. Industry sources indicate that Rockstar Games is targeting a launch during the first quarter of 2027.
This accelerated timeline represents a major shift from previous titles. For instance, Grand Theft Auto V saw a nineteen-month gap between its initial console release and its PC debut, while Red Dead Redemption II arrived one year later. If the current projections hold, only two to four months will separate the console and PC versions.
The strategy is driven by the growing economic importance of the PC market, which now accounts for 45% to 50% of sales for some major titles. Take-Two Interactive CEO Strauss Zelnick acknowledged the platform's central role, and the integration of the FiveM modding team further highlights the need to support the PC community quickly.
By targeting a release before March 2027, Take-Two aims to include these sales in its 2027 fiscal year, supporting a record net bookings goal of 8.0 to 8.2 billion dollars. This approach also leverages the "double dip" strategy, encouraging dedicated fans to purchase the game on multiple platforms to help recoup production costs estimated between 1 and 2 billion dollars.
