Riot Games requested that Valorant Champions Shanghai competitors use wired mice following technical pauses triggered by repeated interference, with Insider Gaming reporting that the problem is linked to the metal competition desks.
Riot announced plans to replace its custom metal desks with ones built from a different material, while asking all players to use wired connections as a temporary fix to reduce disruptions, noting many competitors already switched.
The interference impacted a series between FUT Esports and 100 Thieves, where FUT player Yusuf “xeus” Doğan Gözgen could not fire during a 2v1 round. Riot later admitted the round should have been rolled back but let the match result stand.
Riot stated the wired workaround is an imperfect measure given peripheral importance, but offered no end date for the rule. The company pledged to address interference and apply rules transparently while preparing desk replacements.
