Brandon Sanderson and Brotherwise Games have officially debuted their Kickstarter campaign for the strategy board game War for Roshar. The project has already secured over $1 million in pledges during its opening day, with 23 days remaining in the funding period.
The tabletop experience is designed to balance strategic analysis with abstract gameplay, drawing heavily from the Stormlight Archive series. The game features artwork contributed by more than 30 artists and joins an expanding collection of Cosmere-themed board games.
Backers can choose from several tiers, including the $295 Fifth Ideal level, which provides the base game, the Champions Expansion, 3D components, and miniatures for the Cosmere RPG. Alternatively, a $90 pledge secures the base retail version of the game.
The campaign lists an estimated delivery date of November 2027. While Sanderson has a history of timely deliveries, the project's ultimate success relative to his previous $15 million Cosmere RPG campaign remains to be seen.
