Developer House House has officially confirmed that its title Big Walk will not be released on Xbox consoles. The studio stated that this decision aligns with the Palestinian-led Boycott, Divestment, Sanctions movement, which identifies Microsoft and its gaming division as priority targets for boycotts.
The studio acknowledged that this choice contradicts their goal of enabling friends to play together, expressing regret for the disappointment caused to players. House House noted that they would only consider bringing the game to the platform if Microsoft and Xbox are removed from the list of BDS boycott targets.
This stance reflects the developers' belief in the efficacy of coordinated collective action to challenge powerful interests. The team emphasized that their decision is rooted in the hope for meaningful global change and the freedom of Palestine.
Currently, Big Walk is available for Windows and Mac via Steam and the Mac App Store, as well as on PlayStation 5 and Nintendo Switch 2. This development follows the studio's previous history of social activism, including their 2020 partnership with the Australian non-profit organization Pay The Rent.
