Independent developer YUKIMAHARUNA has unveiled The Chair Game, a physics-based action title coming to Steam. The game is scheduled for release this November and will include support for Traditional Chinese.
Players control a man seated on an office chair, tasked with navigating a winding mountain path from a harbor to his home at the summit. The movement mechanics involve using the feet to push off the ground, rotating the seat for direction, and leaning back to lift the front wheels over obstacles. The chair's casters make movement difficult, as stopping is challenging and small stones can cause the player to roll back into the sea.
The journey spans 12 distinct locations, including a construction site, hot springs, and a volcano. The game features no save points; falling results in restarting from the point of impact, while hazards like trains or lava force a complete restart from the harbor. Various obstacles, such as rolling watermelons, bicycles, and wildlife, threaten to knock the protagonist over, accompanied by documentary-style subtitles narrating his failures.
The Chair Game is developed for PC, specifically requiring Windows 10 or 11 64-bit operating systems.
