Serafini Productions and Soft Source have announced that the first-person psychological horror game BrokenLore: ASCEND is scheduled for release on January 7 of next year. The title will be available on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
Players control Ren and Yui, two rooftop climbers who operate the SkyLimit channel. Seeking to boost their social media engagement, the duo infiltrates the Elysium Tower, a fictionalized version of the Tokyo Tower, for an overnight climb. Their stunt quickly escalates into a desperate struggle for survival.
The gameplay features first-person free climbing on exposed girders and ledges. Players must navigate the heights while avoiding the Rokurokubi, a Japanese folklore creature capable of extending its neck. Stealth mechanics are essential, as players must carefully plan their movements to remain hidden from the entity while contending with vertigo, wind, and darkness.
The game utilizes an officially licensed Tokyo Tower setting reimagined as a cursed structure. Beyond the central narrative, the developers also revealed BrokenLore: Miki-chan, a separate psychological horror title set in a Japanese high school, which is also slated for release on PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
