Ubisoft considers the Watch Dogs franchise to be an important brand for its future, though a new game is not currently in production. Published on October 6, 2026, reports indicate that co-founder and chief executive officer Yves Guillemot discussed the open-world hacking series during an investor meeting.

Guillemot noted that the intellectual property has not been heavily utilized in recent years and relies on a different technology stack than Anvil and Snowdrop, which are the two main engines organizing much of the French publisher's current output. Consequently, the franchise does not currently belong to any of Ubisoft's newly established Creative Houses and lacks priority relative to other properties.

Despite currently lacking priority, Guillemot mentioned that the brand could potentially be remade in the future, while recent rumors also point to a possible new version or Director's Cut for Watch Dogs: Legion. Six years have passed since the launch of Watch Dogs: Legion, which followed the previous releases in May 2014, November 2016, and October 2020.
