Sony has unveiled a new Midnight Black version of the PS5 Digital Edition, scheduled for release in Japan on November 19. Priced at 55,000 yen, this model offers a lower cost compared to international variants while featuring a fully black aesthetic for both the console and the included DualSense controller.
Technically, the console retains the core specifications of the digital model, including an 825 GB SSD, 3D audio support, and the haptic feedback and adaptive trigger features of the DualSense. It also maintains backward compatibility with PS4 titles.
The device is strictly limited to the Japanese market. It features a system language locked to Japanese and is exclusively compatible with PlayStation Network accounts configured for Japan, rendering it unusable with accounts from other regions.
Reservations for the console open on October 20. Additionally, Sony will release a matching Midnight Black external disc drive on November 19 for 11,980 yen, which requires an initial internet connection for pairing.
