Supermassive Games has executed more than 70 layoffs following a consultation process regarding redundancies, matching an earlier warning issued by the company in August. Prior to these cuts, the United Kingdom-based developer, known for cinematic horror titles like Until Dawn, The Dark Pictures anthology, The Quarry, and Directive 8020, employed around 400 workers.
Multiple workers from various departments confirmed the layoffs, impacting developers, artists, producers, and veteran team leaders. Among those affected is Frank Tindle, a 16-year veteran of the studio who stated he was informed weeks ago that his job was in jeopardy before ultimately losing his position.
While the studio has not yet issued a new statement regarding the final cuts, its August announcement described the consultation process as a difficult yet necessary step to secure the company's long-term sustainability. The publication date for the report is October 5, 2026.
