Square Enix and Nintendo are releasing Kingdom Hearts Collection I-III for Nintendo Switch 2, arriving ahead of the upcoming release of Kingdom Hearts 4. The compilation will launch on October 8 with a 50 percent discount for owners of the previous cloud version, which is scheduled to shut down next year. Kingdom Hearts 4 is planned for 2027.
Unlike the 2021 cloud versions that suffered from multiple connection and slowing issues, this new native compilation is divided into three separate sections in the menu. The package features a physical release using a game key card format due to the 131 GB size, requiring an internet connection, and includes an exclusive new Keyblade for the third game called Larga noche. It also contains the one-hour film Kingdom Hearts X Back Cover, though Melody of Memories is notably absent from the collection.
Technically, the older titles run at a stable 60 FPS, while Kingdom Hearts III makes visual concessions such as reduced draw distances, softer textures, and dynamic frame rates oscillating between 30 and 45 FPS, paired with a resolution of 1224p in dock mode and 1080p in portable mode. Lighting and real-time reflections are also reduced, especially in portable mode, but the gameplay remains smooth without sacrificing technical performance during demanding combat encounters.
