Gears of War: E-Day has reportedly generated over $37 million in revenue. According to analyst Rhys Elliott, these figures encompass income derived from direct game sales, microtransactions, and Premium Edition upgrades.
The title saw approximately 230,000 direct purchases, with 168,000 units sold on Steam and 62,000 across Xbox and PC platforms. Additionally, the game reached an estimated 1.7 million players through the Game Pass service.
A significant portion of the revenue was driven by the $30 Premium upgrade, which attracted over 722,000 Game Pass users. This upgrade provided early access starting October 1, ahead of the October 6 full release for Standard Edition owners and general subscribers.
While these figures are not official Microsoft data, they highlight how subscription models and add-on purchases supplement traditional unit sales. Speculation persists regarding whether franchises like Gears of War might eventually move away from day-one Game Pass launches, similar to recent shifts observed with Call of Duty.
