Riot Games is reportedly planning to decrease the number of partner organizations within VCT China from 10 to eight for the 2027 and 2028 seasons. This shift aligns with broader regional reductions across the global circuit, though Riot has not yet officially confirmed these specific team rosters or the finalized competitive format.
According to Sheep Esports, the projected partner lineup includes EDward Gaming, JD Gaming, Bilibili Gaming, TYLOO, All Gamers, and Trace Esports. Additionally, Xi Lai Gaming is expected to transition into a partner slot following their 2024 Ascension victory, while Weibo Gaming is anticipated to rejoin the group after returning to the scene in early 2026.
Several current partners are reportedly excluded from the upcoming cycle, including FunPlus Phoenix, Nova Esports, Titan Esports Club, and Wolves Esports. Dragon Ranger Gaming is also expected to lose its guest status. These changes reflect a significant restructuring of the league's composition, despite notable performances like that of Wolves Esports at Masters Toronto 2025.
While the partner field is shrinking, Riot aims to foster a more open competitive environment. Non-partner teams may still find paths to major events like Cups and Masters, though the specific qualification mechanics remain unclear. Because Riot has yet to detail the final rules or potential regional format variations, these reported changes should be viewed as preliminary rather than official.
