CD Projekt RED has released the 5.01 update for The Witcher 3 Remastered on PC, PS5, and Xbox Series X|S. This patch aims to address visual concerns and technical issues that previously divided the community following the initial release of the remaster.

The update introduces significant visual refinements, including adjustments to brightness, color tonemapping, and character lighting. Users have noted that shadows appear more pronounced, and path tracing colors now align more closely with the original intended art style.

Console players on PS5 and Xbox Series X|S now have more control over their visual experience, with the ability to toggle light bloom, light shafts, and depth of field. Additionally, the patch resolves performance bugs, such as incorrect frame rate limits on consoles and issues where the PC version incorrectly selected graphics cards or enabled incompatible upscaling technologies.

Beyond graphics, the update addresses gameplay mechanics, including delayed dodge responses and stamina depletion issues. It also fixes a bug causing boats to move uncontrollably and resolves problems affecting save data. While Nintendo Switch 2 is not included in this update, the studio is developing a separate patch to improve water clarity and sharpness.
