Vertigo Games has announced Arizona Sunshine Remake, a new version of its zombie action franchise that moves away from virtual reality. The title is scheduled for release on January 21, 2027, for PS5, XBOX Series, Nintendo Switch 2, and PC via Steam and the Epic Games Store.
This reimagining transforms the original 2016 VR experience into a third-person shooter. The developers have adapted the story and mechanics from Arizona Sunshine 2 to function with traditional controls, allowing players to navigate the desert environment without needing a headset.
Players control Sunny, a survivor accompanied by his dog, Buddy. The gameplay features violent, lighthearted action using weapons like machetes, shotguns, and flamethrowers. The title supports two-player cooperative play, including online and split-screen modes, where players can now directly control Buddy.
The standard edition costs 24,99€, while the 28,99€ Deluxe edition includes cosmetic packs, the original VR campaign with expansions, and 48-hour early access starting January 19. Reservations are currently open for both versions.
