Developer BULKHEAD has announced upcoming changes for the large-scale 100-player FPS WARDOGS, specifically targeting the Lonestar blue team. Following community speculation regarding the team's perceived weakness, the developer confirmed that Lonestar's win rate was historically low, hovering around 10% during the alpha phase before improving to approximately 20%.
To address this disparity, the Season 2 update, scheduled to launch on October 15, will implement several adjustments. These include a complete reconfiguration of spawn points for all three factions and a visual update to Lonestar uniforms, which will feature reduced saturation to make players less conspicuous on the battlefield.
Beyond mechanical tweaks, BULKHEAD is introducing incentives for players choosing the Lonestar faction. Participants joining this team will receive experience and in-game currency bonuses. Additionally, the developer is placing recruitment advertisements for Lonestar within the spawn areas of the opposing factions to encourage player distribution.
BULKHEAD described these measures as a social experiment, suggesting that the adjustments are not necessarily permanent. The team intends to monitor the impact of these changes throughout Season 2 to determine future balancing strategies. WARDOGS is currently available in early access on Steam, with a console release planned for 2028.
