2K has announced the digital store delisting and network server shutdown schedule for NBA 2K25, arriving approximately two years after the title's launch. According to publisher notices, the game will be removed from all digital stores on October 30, with servers shutting down entirely on December 31.

While existing purchasers will still be able to redownload the game and play physical retail copies, network-based features such as online multiplayer, leagues, and virtual currency acquisition will be completely blocked starting in 2027. Crucial online-dependent modes including MyCareer and MyTeam will become entirely unplayable. However, offline modes like Play Now, MyNBA, and The W will continue to function normally after the servers close.

The closure aligns with 2K's established timeline. Following past controversies, the company increased its support window from 18 months to 27 months, applying a consistent 27- to 28-month lifecycle to nine consecutive titles from NBA 2K17 through NBA 2K25. Critics point out that the two-month gap between halting sales and shutting down servers may impact late buyers, though comparisons show EA sports titles typically maintain longer operational lifespans.
