Key information

Krafton has initiated a collaborative research project with Seoul National University focused on world model technology for gaming and robotics. The partnership aims to advance AI capabilities in understanding and predicting both virtual and real-world environments over a three-year period.

The research centers on world models, which enable AI to simulate how environments change based on specific actions. The collaboration will explore techniques for maintaining spatial consistency in long video generation, connecting human and object movement using game data, and verifying spatial awareness in AI decision-making.

Krafton CAIO Lee Kang-wook stated that the company's simulation expertise serves as a foundation for this research, which aims to enhance gaming experiences and expand into robotics. Professor Kang Yu of Seoul National University noted the significance of the partnership in advancing AI research and providing student opportunities.

The initiative includes the operation of a joint research center, student internships, and the development of benchmarks. This effort builds upon a previous academic agreement from November and ongoing cooperation through the AI Star Fellowship program, supporting Krafton's broader focus on physical AI and robotics.
