Key information
Global animation streaming platform Crunchyroll officially launched its service in South Korea on the 8th. The platform, known for hosting the world's largest library of anime, aims to provide a stable experience after being designated as a self-rating business operator by the Korea Media Rating Board.
The service offers two subscription tiers: the 'Fan' plan at 9,900 KRW per month and the 'Mega Fan' plan at 10,900 KRW per month. The latter includes additional benefits such as offline viewing, simultaneous streaming on up to four devices, and access to over 100 games.
Crunchyroll has already established local infrastructure, including Korean subtitles. The current library features popular titles like One Punch Man and Tower of God, alongside game-based animations like Sekiro: No Defeat. Furthermore, the platform plans to release over 20 new titles this autumn season.
To engage with local fans, the company will host its first 'Crunchyroll Pop-Up Festival' in Seoul at the end of October. Akshat Sahu, head of APAC and MENA, stated that the launch marks a significant first step, with future commitments to expanding content libraries and localized experiences.
