The Gyeonggi Content Agency (GCA) officially launched a 'Public-Private-Academic Win-Win Council' on September 29 to foster sustainable growth within the regional gaming ecosystem. The inaugural ceremony, held at the Gyeonggi Center for Creative Economy and Innovation, included representatives from nine gaming companies and nine specialized educational institutions.
The initiative aims to bridge the gap between industry demands and educational curricula, specifically addressing rapid shifts in the global market caused by generative AI and new game engines. By creating a virtuous cycle for talent and businesses, the council seeks to ensure local growth.
Participants include companies like Smilegate, NC AI, and Naver Webtoon, alongside academic partners such as Gyeonggi Game Meister High School and CheongKang College of Cultural Industries. The group plans to focus on curriculum enhancement, focus group testing support, and industry-academic project matching.
The council will hold its first regular meeting in November to finalize key tasks for 2027. GCA President Tak Yong-seok emphasized that this governance structure is essential, as a significant portion of Korea's gaming students reside in Gyeonggi, and the agency intends to support both developers and students through these regular sessions.
