Key information

Moonlight Kids has released Echo Weaver, a new title described by Akupara Games’ Head of Publishing, Buddy Solá, as the best demo he has encountered in his career. The game is currently available on Xbox Series X|S and PC, and is included in the Game Pass library.

The developers define Echo Weaver as a "Metroidbrainia," a genre where progress is gated by player knowledge rather than gear upgrades. Set in the space colony of Provenance, players navigate a time loop where they have only minutes to live before the cycle resets. Unlike roguelikes, the game features no procedural generation, functioning instead as a clockwork puzzle where players must use information gained in previous loops to advance.

Building the game proved exceptionally difficult for the three-person studio. Developers noted that the lack of traditional save systems required them to constantly track the state of the entire world as it streams without loading screens. The team also adjusted the game's tone during development, moving away from a darker, mature-rated vision to better align with the art style.

The core design philosophy focuses on a journey from feeling lost to achieving mastery. While the game can theoretically be completed in five minutes if a player possesses all necessary knowledge, the experience is intentionally structured around uncovering layers of secrets.
