Key information
Microsoft appears to be preparing an updated version of its high-end gamepad, following recent configuration file discoveries on Spectrum, the platform powering the Xbox Design Lab, which were shared on Reddit before being removed.
The leaked configuration data indicates that the rumored device might offer players options between Hall Effect and TMR sticks, alongside an audio scroll wheel and additional paddle configurations.
While a previous Reddit leak in August displayed images of an alleged prototype, it lacked functional details, whereas these latest files highlight internal specifications for the device.
The anticipated model would compete against leading premium gamepads, addressing durability concerns tied to older hardware iterations that suffered from broken thumbsticks and loose components during accidental drops.
Retaining positive attributes like battery longevity and weight while incorporating the rumored upgrades could strengthen its market position, provided the cost does not exceed the $167 price point noted for the previous generation.
