Key information
Xbox has officially established a new internal division named XP, a title derived from the gaming term Experience Points. According to executive Asha Sharma, this department aims to extend the company's major gaming intellectual properties into film, television, live events, and various commercial partnerships.
The division will be headed by Kayleen Walters, who previously served as a lead at Mojang and executive producer for the Minecraft film. The initiative focuses on expanding the reach of prominent franchises such as Halo, Fallout, Gears of War, and Call of Duty to audiences beyond the traditional gaming sphere.
Strategy lead Matthew Ball emphasized that while video games remain the core of these franchises, the XP division will collaborate with trusted partners to develop diverse ways for fans to engage with these fictional worlds. The operations are structured into four distinct pillars: Xbox Pictures for media adaptations, Xbox Products for official merchandise, Xbox Places for live events and real-world attractions, and Xbox Partnerships for brand collaborations.
