Key information
The early access sandbox shooter Wardogs is launching its second season on October 15th, following a game-wide progress wipe. A notable addition is a gambling system where players can visit a Wager Vendor to bet in-game currency on their own performance. By accepting specific restrictions, players can increase their potential payouts, though failing to meet these conditions results in a loss.
Season 2 expands the arsenal with new tools, including a high-capacity SMG, molotov cocktails, and a tracked anti-aircraft gun. Builders gain the ability to construct machine gun nests and overhead shelters. Additionally, a new thundery rainfall weather preset will affect gameplay by reducing visibility for snipers and pilots while masking footstep sounds.
Developer Bulkhead is addressing team balance issues, specifically for the Lonestar faction, which has historically suffered from lower win rates. To rectify this, the studio is relocating faction HQs on the Bakurani map, desaturating Lonestar uniforms for better camouflage, and offering XP and cash bonuses throughout the season as part of a social experiment.
While players requested a friends queue, Bulkhead stated this feature requires more development time. Instead, the update introduces a 'Squad Intent' function, allowing leaders to label squads by role or playstyle to help players coordinate more effectively. These changes aim to refine the game's core loop of earning and spending currency.
