Key information
Bulkhead, the developer behind the shooter Wardogs, intends to bring its title to future hardware, specifically Sony's PlayStation 6 and Microsoft's Project Helix. While neither platform holder has confirmed an official release window for these systems, the studio is already planning for a console launch currently slated for 2028.
Co-founder Howard Philpott stated that the studio views the transition to next-gen hardware as a straightforward porting process. By ensuring the game is performant on current base consoles, the team expects the jump to newer machines to primarily result in performance improvements rather than requiring significant additional development work.
Senior producer Kane Allard confirmed that Bulkhead is already in discussions with platform proprietors regarding these versions. The studio anticipates meeting the necessary criteria for these future devices without encountering major obstacles, noting that the process should be consistent with their current development standards.
Currently, Wardogs is available in early access on PC, with Season 2 launching next week to introduce features like rain. Meanwhile, Microsoft CEO Asha Sharma has described the upcoming Gen-10 Xbox as a family of devices, emphasizing that the company will share more details as their plans continue to develop.
