Bulkhead, the developer behind the shooter Wardogs, has confirmed plans to bring the title to future console hardware. While Sony and Microsoft have not provided official release windows for the PlayStation 6 and Xbox Project Helix, the studio is already preparing for a potential 2028 console launch.
Co-founder Howard Philpott stated that the team views the transition to next-generation hardware as a straightforward process. By focusing on making the game performant, the studio expects the porting effort to be minimal, essentially treating the next-gen versions as performance-enhanced iterations of the base console builds.
Senior producer Kane Allard indicated that Bulkhead is currently in discussions with platform holders regarding these versions. The team does not anticipate significant technical hurdles, assuming they meet the specific criteria set by the manufacturers for their respective platforms.
Currently, Wardogs is available in early access on PC, with Season 2 launching next week to add features like rain. Meanwhile, industry discourse continues regarding the longevity of current hardware, as analysts debate the timing of future console releases amid rising development costs.
