Key information

The 1.0 launch of Valheim on the Switch 2 currently falls short of the PC and other console versions, needing additional patches to reach its full potential. Issues include hard-to-read text from characters like Hugin, Munin, Haldor, and Hildir, despite UI navigation benefiting from Joy-Con 2 mouse mode, touchscreen support, and world mod accessibility.

Visual performance varies by biome, with lower-quality textures and pixelated characters appearing less clear in handheld mode resolution, particularly within the Black Forest, Swamp, and Mistlands. Meanwhile, single-player and multiplayer modes suffer from frame rate drops below 20fps in denser biomes, alongside stuttering during base building, farming, weather changes, traveling, and combat.

Crossplay multiplayer also presents connectivity hurdles, as version 1.0.10 currently results in disconnects when joining external servers. Although developer Jonathan Smars noted version 1.0.14 is approaching for other platforms, players may want to wait a few weeks for fixes to arrive.
