Unity has announced External Dependency Manager, an official package for resolving native Android and iOS libraries used by Unity projects. It is distributed through Unity Package Manager and brings a common mobile integration task into Unity’s supported package workflow.

The package builds on Google’s External Dependency Manager for Unity. Unity says developers and SDK maintainers can migrate without rewriting their existing setup, and that the XML format used to declare dependencies remains supported.

This matters for games using several service SDKs, such as advertising, analytics, notifications and monetization. Those integrations can request overlapping or conflicting platform libraries. A dependency manager reads their declarations and resolves the required native components instead of leaving each integration to a separate manual installation.

Unity describes continuity as the immediate priority of the transition and asks users to report unexpected migration problems through the Editor’s Bug Reporter. The announcement introduces official package distribution and support; it does not require developers to redesign their game’s mobile services.
