Ubisoft is reportedly preparing to relaunch Watch Dogs: Legion next year with a revamped Director's Cut edition. According to reports from Insider Gaming and confirmed by IGN's own sources, there is a push to do more with the title early next year.

Watch Dogs: Legion originally launched in 2020 to a somewhat tepid reaction, leading Ubisoft to rest the franchise with no all-new game currently believed to be in development. The original release divided fans by replacing a single protagonist with the ability to recruit and play as any NPC across post-Brexit London.

Post-launch content for the game previously introduced DLC featuring Aiden Pearce and Wrench, alongside an Assassin's Creed crossover expansion. Speculation suggests the upcoming Director's Cut will likely bundle this previous content and potentially pivot focus toward more recognizable faces rather than the play-as-anyone mechanic.

Meanwhile, Ubisoft CEO Yves Guillemot recently stated that while Watch Dogs was omitted from the company's major focus franchises following a recent restructure, it remains considered an important brand for the future. Additionally, the status of a long-planned Watch Dogs movie project remains unclear as it still lacks a release date despite wrapping production two years ago.
